Windsor Declares Snow Emergency

(WINDSOR, ON) – In the wake of heavy snow since Friday, the City of Windsor has today declared a snow emergency. Road crews will continue to plow main roads, but there is no definite timing when plows and salters will begin residential roads.

In anticipation of making it to side streets, however, the city is asking residents to remove vehicles from roadways so that plows can navigate the residential areas. Side streets, though, will not be cleared down to the pavement.

Authorities are reminding residents that by-laws and the Highway Traffic Act prohibits people from shoveling snow onto the street. Windsor Fire and Rescue is also asking residents to clear the snow from in front of fire hydrants.
