(CHATHAM, ON) – On April 14, the OPP was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 401, near Kent Bridge Road, when they saw a vehicle being driven in excess of the posted speed limit of 100kph. The radar registered a speed greater than 180kph.

Joseph Raaymakers, 20, of Chatham, was charged with racing. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on May 23, to answer to the charge. Meanwhile his driver’s licence has been suspended and the vehicle impounded for seven days.

Raaymakers is a goaltender with the London Knights in the OHL. The former Chatham Maroon spent three years with the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds before playing 46 games in the 2017-18 season in London where he registered a 2.84 GAA.

Raaymakers is eligible for the 2018 NHL draft.
