Former CAO Charged With Breach Of Trust

(PETROLIA, ON) – On November 6, 2017, members of the OPP in Lambton County commenced an investigation into a breach of trust allegation.

After a lengthy investigation, the former Chief Administrative Officer of the Town of Petrolia has been arrested and charged.

Emanuel Baron, 43, of Petrolia, was charged with committing a breach of trust by a public officer. Baron will appear at the Sarnia court house on April 16, to answer to the allegation.

The charge against Baron, currently the CAO of Mapleton Township, near Fergus, originate with property he owned and leased to Petrolia. The Independent, reported Baron charged the town rent, and utilities in lieu of rent, on facilities he owns via a numbered company.

He admitted he was in a conflict of interest position.

Baron resigned November 14, but was hired on as CAO in Mapleton in January, this year.
