Wild Turkey Causes Serious Collision

A motorcycle driver is in serious condition after being struck by a wild turkey, causing a collision with a transport truck, on 17 April 2017.

(TECUMSEH, ON) – Yesterday morning around 7:30am, the OPP responded to a collision on Highway 3 near Walker Road, in Tecumseh. A BMW motorcycle, travelling east on Highway 3, was reported to have struck a wild turkey.

The driver lost control of the motorcycle and subsequently struck an International tractor trailer, traveling in the oncoming lane.

The motorcycle operator sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital by Essex-Windsor EMS. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

Highway 3 between Walker Road and Sexton Side road was closed for several hours while the OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit completed the investigation.
