On Thursday April 27, the OPP were called to a residence in the 6500 block of Hickory Creek Line, in Warwick Township, to assist health care workers checking on the well-being of a resident. Officers arrived and aided the health care officials to gain entry. However, once inside, police found the residence in a state of squalor.
A search of the residence eventually located an elderly woman who was incoherent and in need of medical intervention and was transported to hospital by EMS.
The OPP’s West Region Forensic Identification Unit, as well as the Lambton OPP Crime Unit, was engaged to assist officers with the investigation.
As a result, a Warwick Township woman, 50, has been arrested and charged with failing to provide necessaries of life. She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on June 5.
The investigation is continuing at this time.
