Police Dog Collars Fleeing Suspect

(WINDSOR, ON) – On Tuesday just before midnight, Windsor Police officers investigated a collision in the area of Howard Avenue and Tuson Way. Police were informed that two men exited one of the vehicles and ran away.

Officers found a red Pontiac and a black Dodge Nitro with extensive front end damage. Essex-Windsor EMS and Windsor Fire and Rescue personnel were on scene treating the driver of the Pontiac. She was later transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers learned that the men might have ended up in the Dougall Avenue and Cabana Road area and the WPS’s Canine Unit was deployed. The officer and his dog, Kato, were able to locate one of the men, who was hiding in a wooded area behind a cement wall at a nearby plaza.

He was placed under arrest without further incident. A Windsor man, 30, is facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident and breaching probation.

The investigation is on-going.
