Michigan Man Arrested At Bluewater Bridge

(POINT EDWARD, ON) – On July 7, the OPP responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver trying to gain entry into Canada at the Bluewater Bridge in Point Edward. The OPP were directed to a US citizen who had arrived at the CBSA checkpoint and was suspected to be impaired due to the consumption of an alcoholic beverage.

The driver, identified as Chia Vang, 32, of Novi, MI,  was consequently arrested and turned over to OPP and transported to the detachment in Corunna for breath tests. Vang’s results were almost twice the legal limit.

Vang was charged with driving with more than 80mg of alcohol in his blood. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on August 14.
