(ESSEX, ON) – It turns out the Town of Essex’s new tourism website is only the start of a program to attract visitors. In response to a question from Councilor Randy Voakes, town administrators told Voakes about the promotion effort being much more extensive and not stopping with the website.
At the council meeting, councilors learned the objective for the website is to attract visitors from within a 100km radius. It is hoped that the information provided will attract enough interest from neighbouring communities for their residents to drive over to personally see what is on offer.
The next part of the plan is to set up Essex Tourism social media pages on Facebook and Instagram. Noting how much work it took to complete the detailed web page, administration did not offer a date for the launch of the two social media initiatives, but did suggest it would happen soon.
Although all Council members were enthused with the effort so far, councillor Richard Meloche suggested the program should be further expanded. He wondered if the town could augment the digital program with hard copy brochures and pamphlets, envisioning them being distributed at tourist attractions.
