Essex And Kent Scottish To Mark 75th Anniversary Of Dieppe Raid

(WINDSOR, ON) – The Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment’s 75th annual Dieppe Memorial Service is being held on August 19 at 1:00pm, in Dieppe Gardens on the Windsor riverfront.

The ceremony, led by the commanding officer, LCol John Hodgins, will start promptly at 1pm and will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Raid on Dieppe, also known as Operation Jubilee, in 1942.

The raid on the northern coast of France included 5,000 Canadian troops supported by a small contingent of British and United States personnel. By the end of the raid, more than half were killed, wounded, or captured, including 121 fatalities from the Essex Scottish Regiment.
