Detroit Woman Dies, Stabbed By Daughter

(DETROIT, MI) – Detroit Police were called to a residence in the 18900 block of Appoline Street, in the city’s north west side, on August 13 in relation to a stabbing fatality.

Around 11:46pm, police report that Jaquetta Ann Coopwood, 31, was engaged in a conversation with her mother, Pandora Hassan, 56. The conversation escalated when Coopwood plunged a knife into her Hassan’s chest.

Hassan was transported to hospital by EMS where she was pronounced dead.

Coopwood was charged with second degree murder and arraigned in the 36th District Court yesterday. She’ll next appear in court on August 30 at 9am.
