(WINDSOR, ON) – ArtSpeak Gallery, a rental community gallery and multi-arts space, has been managed by the Arts Council of Windsor and Region in Walkerville for the past 20 years. It is one of the only non-juried rental spaces in Windsor serving Windsor and Essex County artists and workers.
The gallery was in need of facility updates to improve the functionality and overall professionalism of the space. The Lowe’s Heroes from Lowe’s Home Improvement on Provincial Road in Windsor offered their generous support in fundraising for an ArtSpeak Gallery overhaul.
“This is the largest single corporate donation the ACWR has received in recent memory,” said Julie Tucker, the director of public programs and advocacy. “We would like to extend our thanks to the community and to Lowe’s heroes for supporting the arts community.”
Nearly $8,000 was raised to fund the gallery transformation, with help from the Lowe’s Heroes program. The newly renovated ArtSpeak Gallery will allow for the ACWR to continue to meet the overwhelming need for arts spaces in this region.
“Lowe’s has actively supported various national and local causes to help strengthen the communities in which we operate.,” said Mark Birse, Windsor Lowe’s store manager. “This year Lowe’s in Windsor partnered with the Arts Council of Windsor and Region by revamping the gallery space on Wyandotte Street East. The project included building new walls, drywall, paint, new displays and updated lighting.”
