(WINDSOR, ON) – Users of the Life After 50 recreational centers in Windsor will soon enjoy upgraded computer labs thanks to a $14,000 sponsorship from the Circle of Seven and Caesars Windsor Cares.
The check was presented Wednesday morning at the West Side Center on McEwan Avenue.
Life after Fifty has had a computer lab open to the community for more than 10 years, but is in need of an upgrade to, not only the computers and the software, but to the physical space as well.
Last year, 500 people from the center and the community used the computer lab to re-connect with loved ones. Facebook usage is skyrocketing among seniors, and adults 65+ on social media sites continues to trend upward.
Colin James, of Life After 50, says the, “… upgraded technology will create a huge jump in computer literacy.”
The sponsorship will also be used to create accessible work stations and to reconfigure the layout of the lab area to eliminate physical barriers.
