(OLDCASTLE, ON) – The whirlwind tour of Justin Trudeau, to this part of Ontario, was accompanied by whirling winds and the heaviest snow fall of the season.
After attending caucus meetings for two days in London, Trudeau and the Big Red Machine rolled into the Windsor area to speak to supporters, at the Ciociaro Club Wednesday evening. Trudeau conveyed a message of Windsor’s important place within the country.
There were reminders of the original Trudeau Mania that swept the country when his father became prime minister. The Liberal faithful swarmed the young leader upon his entry to the club. He’ll need to cash in on that enthusiasm if the federal party wants to reverse the shutout they experienced in south-western Ontario at the last election.
Trudeau spent much of the evening addressing two main issues; the need for the federal government to help with the slumping auto industry, and the manufacturing sector in general, and the lack of attention by the Harper Conservatives toward economic diversity.
However, Trudeau didn’t divulge the details of the Liberal’s economic policies, something over which he and the party have been taken to task.
With a Federal election on the near horizon, look for more posturing from all the parties in the lead-up to dropping the writ.
