Motel Standoff Ends Peacefully

By Ian Shalapata

(WINDSOR, ON) – Windsor Police were called to the Towne and Country Motel on Howard Avenue, near EC Row, yesterday evening around 6:00 pm, after reports regarding a stolen vehicle. A person of interest then barricaded himself in one of the rooms.

At least seven WPS vehicles and a baker’s dozen of heavily armed officers set up a perimeter and cordoned off the area. Initially, the man refused to surrender, but after about an hour police talked the man out of the room.

The suspect was taken to Windsor Regional Hospital due to complaints of a rapid heart rate. Later he was processed and held in custody at police headquarters.
