GO Transit Driver Charged In Fatal Collision

(VAUGHAN, ON) – Officers from the OPP are investigating a single vehicle, fatal collision which occurred on Highway 407, eastbound at Weston Road, in Vaughan, on January 14. A 2005 MCI Metrolinx GO Transit bus was traveling on the 407 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle impacted a steel guard rail on the right side of the highway.

As a result of this initial collision the bus then entered a grassy area where the vehicle rolled onto its right side before coming to rest.

During the collision, a female passenger was ejected and trapped under the bus, sustaining fatal injuries. She was identified as Radika Nankissoor, a 56 year-old woman from Brampton.

There were a total of six occupants in the bus at the time of the collision; the driver, three female passengers, and two male passengers.

The bus driver, identified as Donald Bruce Crombie, a 66 year-old resident of Hamilton, and two female passengers, a 22 year-old from Richmond Hill and a 23 year-old from Thornhill, were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The two male passengers, an 18 year-old from Vaughan and a 23 year-old from Toronto, were not injured.

On March 2, Crombie was charged with Careless Driving.

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on April 10.
