Liverpool Field Boss Out
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM–(Marketwire – June 4, 2010) – After six years in charge at Liverpool, Rafael Benitez has left the club by mutual consent after a disappointing 2009/10 season. The Spaniard paid the price for the Reds finishing seventh, although who will replace him as manager at the Merseyside club?
Victor Chandler, one of the world’s leading independent betting and gaming organisations, make Martin O’Neill the 15/8 favourite to leave his Aston Villa post and take the reins at Anfield. The Irishman might feel that he has taken his current club as far as he can and will be a popular selection.
However, perhaps the club simply needs a steadying influence at the moment and Kenny Dalglish is available at odds of 4/1 to be the next Liverpool manager. The Scot will clearly have the respect of the players at Anfield, although will he want to return to the hotseat.
There has also been money for Roy Hodgson on the Next Liverpool Manager betting market and the Fulham chief has been cut to 7/2 for the post. He has worked wonders with the Cottagers over the past couple of seasons and is clearly a man in demand this summer.
Victor Chandler offer odds of 10/1 that Jurgen Klinsmann becomes the next manager of Liverpool. We should remember that George Gillett and Tom Hicks have held secret talks with the German before and perhaps he could bring new ideas to a club who need a kickstart.
Other names in the frame to be next Liverpool manager are Guus Hiddink, Manuel Pellegrini, Alex McLeish and Mark Hughes. Perhaps the latter might fancy a return to management after being sacked by Manchester City last season. He’s already been well backed too and is available at odds of 6/1 having opened up at 20/1, while you can get David Moyes at odds of 50/1 although whether the Everton manager would even consider this is open to question!
