Unemployment Up In Windsor

(WINDSOR, ON) – Over 1,100 net jobs were lost in Canada during the month of April according to the latest numbers from Statistics Canada.

Effectively, the unemployment rate in Canada remained unchanged.

The unemployment rate in Windsor jumped from 5.2% to 5.5 per cent, which equals a 6.7 per cent increase in unemployed persons from the previous month. In January, 8,000 were jobless in Windsor with the latest figure sitting at 9.6 thousand.

Windsor’s unemployment percentage jump was 3rd highest in Ontario behind Sudbury (6.9) and Kitchener (7.3).  St Catharines was 4th at 5.0 per cent.
