Pilot Strike Could Silence Windsor Airport

(CALGARY, AB) – Windsor Airport could become quieter after pilots with WestJet voted in favour of taking strike action during their collective bargaining process. The 2,000 pilots, who are represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, voted 91% in support of a work stoppage if necessary.

They will be in a legal position to strike as of May 19 though no action is expected until after the Victoria Day long weekend.

Compensation, job security, and  working conditions are the sticking points between the ALPA and WestJet. Talks are scheduled to take place in Halifax through next week.
