Pasta Dinner Launches Books

(WINDSOR, ON) – The University of Windsor’s Editing and Publishing Practicum is staging a fundraiser filled with pasta, music, and poetry tonight at the Friuli Hall at the Fogolar Furlan Club in Windsor. Behind the dinner is a group of students who work with the city’s first poet laureate and university professor Marty Gervais; the versatile writer and former journalist is also the founder of and publisher of Black Moss Press.

His literary press will take on the task of publishing the books the Practicum students have been working on since the beginning of the school year. From September to December, class members busied themselves editing manuscripts written by Mary Ann Mulhern and Denis Robillard. The result is a transformation of their work into books of poetry entitled All the Words Between and Ask the River.

With that done, this semester the students are taking on the task of marketing and publishing aspects of the literary projects. This is where the pasta supper comes in.

Those who dine will financially support an April 4 formal launch of the two books. This pasta dinner is one event in a number of fundraising projects and will include a 50/50 draw, raffle, and door prizes.

Tickets, at $20 each, $18 for students, can be had by email or can be purchased at the door, if any are available.

Doors open at 5pm and there will be a vegetarian option of pasta with tomato sauce.
