(WINDSOR, ON) – On Monday, Walkerville Brewery and Craft Heads Brewing presented the Canadian Cancer Society with a combined donation of $4,390.
In March of 2016, the Fine N’ Dandy project was conceptualized by former Walkerville Brewery brewer, Jeffrey Craig. When he was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, he did not let it stop him from doing what he loved; brewing.
Using his science background and support from friends at Craft Heads Brewing Company and Walkerville Brewery, Craig collaborated on a beer featuring dandelions as a main ingredient to help in the fight against cancer. Craig lost his battle against cancer on August 7, 2017.
In his honor, Walkerville Brewery and Craft Heads continued the Fine N’ Dandy project to further the efforts in the fight against cancer.
During the month of April, Daffodil Month, both breweries raised funds through beer and t-shirt sales at the respective establishments. Throughout April, Craft Heads offered Fine N’ Dandy Belgian Saison, a collaborative brew from the two local breweries. New to 2018, Craft Heads bottled the product for consumers to take home.
All proceeds from the Fine N’ Dandy Saison benefited the Canadian Cancer Society.
Walkerville Brewery held a Fine N’ Dandy Night charity event at the brewery to raise money and awareness. Walkerville Brewery produced a Dandelion Pilsener cask, of which 100% of sales were donated. As well, Fine N’ Dandy t-shirts were sold throughout the month of April.
