Growers Do Battle

(KINGSVILLE, ON) – Local greenhouse growers in Essex County will be paired with a local chef, winery, and a student from United Way’s On Track to Success program for the 2nd annual Battle of the Growers to take place in Kingsville on June 22 at Pelee Island Winery.

Five culinary teams will not only mentor the On Track to Success students, they will also compete to create the best tasting small plate appetizer, as voted by a panel of local judges. The Growers will be highlighting their own local produce in the dish, which will be paired with local wines.

All funds raised will support the On Track to Success program in Leamington.

The event will include a unique dining experience with bistro tables, wine pairings, silent auction, and entertainment by Michael Vanhevel.

There are still a few tickets available for purchase online or by calling 519-258-0000 x1178 or emailing.

United Way’s On Track to Success program offers supports that wrap around a family and help kids graduate high school and go on to trade or post-secondary education. It is a student achievement program that also supports students in building skills and networks to help them be successful in the modern job economy.
