Train Collision Claims Life Of Warwick Township Man

(WATFORD, ON) – The OPP is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a freight train in the area of Nauvoo Road, in Warwick Township.

On Friday just after midnight, the OPP was dispatched to Nauvoo Road just south of Front Street, in Watford, for a report of a collision involving a freight train and a pedestrian.

A lone pedestrian was located at the scene and pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. The pedestrian has been identified as a 32 year-old man from Warwick Township.

The OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigators were on scene for about five hours to assist.

The investigation determined the man was walking on the tracks when he was struck by the westbound freight train. No foul play is suspected.
