(CHATHAM, ON) – In February, a man was inside the Real Canadian Superstore, at 791 St Clair Street in Chatham, when he selected two sets of headphones, with total value at over $120. He began removing the plastic packaging around the headphones and placed one set in his work boot and the other was concealed in the back pocket of his pants.
The man went through the check-out and paid for other merchandise, but made no attempt to pay for the two hidden headphones. When he exited the store, he was approached by store security who told him that he was under arrest.
The man ran away from the security officers and departed in a vehicle.
Chatham-Kent Police were able to identify the man as Craig Goodreau and he was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000. Goodreau was released with a court date of March 8.
However, he did not show up for his court date and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Early this morning, Goodreau, 27, of Queen Street North in Tilbury, was located and arrested on the outstanding warrant. He was released with a court date of May 5.
