Tecumseh Man Faces DUI Charge

(CHATHAM, ON) – On November 11, the OPP was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 401 near Orford Road when officers saw a vehicle exceeding the posted 100kph speed limit. Radar registered a speed in excess of 140kph.

Police conducted a traffic stop and, while speaking with the driver, the officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol. He was then transported to the Chatham detachment for further testing.

David Fenkanyn, 48, of Tecumseh, was charged with driving with more than 80mg of alcohol in his blood.

Fenkanyn is required to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on December 1, to answer to the charge.

“Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police is actively monitoring the Big 4 driving behaviours,” said OPP spokesman Jay Denorer. “Impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and seatbelt usage.”
