(WINDSOR, ON) – Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Chatham-Kent, Rondeau Park, Windsor, Leamington, and Rondeau Park. Strong winds gusting up to 80kph are expected today.
Strong winds are forecast today with gusts of 60 to 80kph expected. The strongest gusts are likely along the shores of Lake Huron and Lake Erie.
These winds are attributed to a rapidly intensifying fall storm forecast to track near Sault Ste Marie today. The strong winds will continue through tonight before easing Wednesday morning.
The Essex Region Conservation Authority is advising that the strong winds may bring the possibility for near shore breakwall damage and erosion with wave overtopping and spray.
The shoreline areas of the region that could be most significantly impacted are the west side of Leamington, west of Point Pelee National Park , the towns of Kingsville and Essex, and the west and south shorelines of the Township of Pelee.
