Speeding Bikes Exceed 200kph

(SARNIA, ON) – On September 26, the OPP in Lambton received several complaints regarding two motorcycles which were being raced in the area of Highway 40 and LaSalle Line, in Sarnia.

An officer on general patrol located the motorcycle operators as they traveled north on Highway 40, north of LaSalle Line. The officer followed the motorcycles as they rapidly sped away and eventually, utilizing his moving radar, measured the speed of the vehicles in excess of 200kph in a posted 80kph zone.

The motorcycles were followed for a distance until they were caught up in traffic. At that time the officer took control of the motorcycles by removing the keys in order to prevent the continuation of the offence and to deter escape.

Jason McIntyre, 35, of Sarnia, and Brandon Smith, 26, had their motorcycles and driver’s licences seized for seven days and were charged with racing. The pair will appear at Sarnia Traffic Court on December 8.
