Serious Collision Closes Westbound Highway 401

(COMBER, ON) – The OPP, Lakeshore Fire Department, and Essex-Windsor EMS responded to a three-vehicle collision on Highway 401, west of County Road 77, around 4:35pm yesterday afternoon. The collision occurred in the westbound lanes and closed the highway to traffic, which was directed off the road at the Comber exit.

A tractor trailer unit, a pickup truck, and a small car were involved with the car being pinned on its side against the median barrier by the transport.

The drivers of the tractor trailer and the pickup truck were treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the car was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The 401 was closed for several hours as the investigation took place and the vehicles were removed.
