The Cadence is a VQA Niagara Peninsula. It is dark ruby coloured. Tight aromas of spice, licorice, black cherry, coffee plum, marshmallows, and cedar.
As it breathes there is an increasing wave of black cherry, chocolate, and smoked meat, but despite these aromas none dominate, leaving you to enjoy a complex and very pure wine.
On the palate, broad and muscular tannins complimented by a perfect seam of acidity. Blackberry, cherry, and almost bubbling with friendly juiciness in an Ontario fashion.
Disciplined, well structured with the Merlot adding its fruitiness making this a wickedly delicious red. If this is any indication where 2017 is headed we can forgive Mariah Carey for her New Year’s Eve performance.
My thoughts would be that this is drinkable now and will improve up to 2021.
Made with 37% Cabernet Franc, 29% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 7% Syrah. I would think good with high quality but simply prepared grilled meats.

Viognier is my Great White Hope a la George Chuvalo. But very little of it is produced in Ontario. At its best, ripe and full of honey, peach, apricot, and marzipan.
I must hand it to Nyarai to produce a largely unknown.
Light gold in colour. On the nose, solid and thick aromas of cantaloupe, peach, apricot, and lemon meringue pie .Very well integrated on the nose and elegant.
On the palate, discrete and again well integrated flavours of peach, apple, honey, and a tiny hint of grapefruit.
This is a delicate little wine, quite unlike its California or French cousins. It lacks, to a degree, the forceful personality of the Viogniers I am used to.
I’d say to pair with the simplest filet of flounder or sole. Unfortunately, unlike the Cadence Red, this Viognier has great aromas but a rather limpid finish with very little acidity.
