LaSalle Tops Area Rankings

(TORONTO, ON) – The annual MoneySense rankings of the Best Places to Live in Canada was released and the sleepy bedroom community of LaSalle led the way for Essex County municipalities. Home affordability, low crime, and high income earned LaSalle the marks needed to land 26th out of the 417 Canadian municipalities ranked by the magazine.

LaSalle was unranked in 2016.

Also scoring a top 100 ranking was Tecumseh as the commuter town slipped into the 67th position in Canada, also in its first appearance on the chart.

Lakeshore (130), Essex (205), Amherstburg (253), and Kingsville (317) were all first timers in the MoneySense survey and have room for improvement.

Previously ranked in 2016 at 156, Windsor had a precipitous free fall to the 344th position. Working against the city was depressed property values and a high crime rate. To its  advantage was the amount of sunshine enjoyed by residents.

Also dropping from its 2016 ranking was Leamington, which went from 157 to 358.

The full rankings for Canada can be seen on the MoneySense website.
