(WINDSOR, ON) – Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Chatham-Kent, Rondeau Park, Windsor, Leamington, and Essex County.
Daytime high temperatures are expected to reach the low thirties today with the low temperature tonight in the low twenties. Humidex values are likely to approach 40 this afternoon.
Showers during Saturday and Sunday may provide some relief from the heat over the weekend. Cooler conditions are expected on Monday.
Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place. Seek a cool place such as a tree-shaded area, swimming pool, shower or bath, or air-conditioned spot like a public building.
Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
The Tow of LaSalle is providing some relief for at risk residents.
There is a Free Swim at the LaSalle Outdoor Pool, today from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, which is sponsored by Essex Power Corporation. Residents can also visit the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex for recreational swims from 2:00pm to 3:30pm and again from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with regular admission fees, or visit the splash pad.
Lastly, people can visit the LaSalle Library at the LaSalle Civic Centre.
