(LAKESHORE, ON) – Reko International Group, a locally headquartered machining, factory automation, and mold supplier, has issued a statement disclaiming media reports of a planned expansion of its Lakeshore facility.
In the tightly worded statement, the company said that while, “… discussions and negotiations as to such potential expansion are ongoing, there are not, as of yet, any definitive plans or agreements, and the plans for such expansion are subject to the completion of negotiations and entering into definitive agreements.”
The company added that there is no assurance, “… such agreements will ever be finalized or that any expansion will proceed.”
Earlier yesterday the Windsor Essex Economic Development Corporation posted a news story to its website claiming Reko was moving forward on a $10-million expansion. The development corporation stated the proposal would require a separate facility on neighbouring lands, “… to the west of their current location on Silver Creek Industrial Dr., just off Patillo Rd. If finalized, construction would begin later this summer. The plant could create 30 new jobs.”
The news report, attributed to AM800 CKLW, also claimed Lakeshore mayor Tom Bain had affirmed his council had signed off on the project at its Tuesday meeting.
Reko is a publicly traded corporation. As such it would need to follow a proper announcement protocol.
