Eight Arrested During Chatham Drug Bust

(CHATHAM, ON) – On March 3, the CKPS Intelligence Unit, with the assistance of the Critical Incident Response Team, executed a search warrant on Beechwood Crescent, in Chatham. A quantity of drugs consisting of methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl was located inside the residence.

The street value of the drugs is estimated at $4,700.

In addition, a prohibited device and a quantity of cash was located and seized by police.

As a result, eight people were arrested and charged, including three under the age of 18. Four of the five adults were released from custody with a court date of March 30.

Melvin Manley, 44, and Michelle Hunter, 36, both of Beechwood Crescent in Chatham, were charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and single counts of possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully possessing a prohibited device.

Manley is also facing four counts of possession contrary to a prohibition order, and he is being held in custody until March 16.

Joseph Hawgood, 24, of Harvey Street, Michel Willimot, 49, of Taylor Trail, and Tesha Oliver, 23, of St Anthony Street, all in Chatham, are each facing two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and single counts of possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully possessing a prohibited device.
