Dog Rescued From House Fire

(MERLIN, ON) – Just after midnight Sunday, Chatham-Kent police and fire services were called to a residence on Talbot Trail regarding a garage which had become engulfed by fire. The fire had spread to the residence and it was unknown at the time of the call if there was anyone inside.

With the help of a citizen, police were able to rescue a dog from inside the home as well as ensure that the house was empty. Officers later were able to confirm that the house was, in fact, vacant at the time of the fire.

The damage is estimated damage $175,000, but the cause is not deemed suspicious.
