(CORUNNA, ON) – Yesterday afternoon, the OPP investigated a report of a deceased person floating, in the St Clair River near Corunna, when patrons aboard a local River Cruise Boat had seen the person floating atop the river.

With the assistance of the OPP Marine Unit, Pt Edward Fire Department, and the Shell Refinery Marine Services, the OPP were successful in recovering the person and returning them to the Corunna boat ramp. The regional Coroner’s Office has taken control of the body in anticipation of a post-mortem to determine the identity and cause of death.

The OPP is aware that the Sarnia Police Service is currently investigating a missing person occurrence and the two agencies will work collaboratively in identifying the deceased.
