(SARNIA, ON) – In 2010 the Sarnia Police launched an investigation into Douglas Harold Patrick, who had been a long time resident in the south end of Sarnia. Following the 8-month investigation, Patrick was arrested in St Catharines and charged with 111 historical sexual offences committed against prepubescent and young teenage boys between 1970 to the early 1990s.
He was ultimately convicted of 50 of these offences and began serving a penitentiary term of 14 and a-half years in 2012 as a result.
Subsequent to the initial investigation, other victims have come forward to the police to report of being sexually assaulted as children by Patrick. The most recent complaint by another victim has resulted in Patrick, now 69, being charged with an additional 15 sexual assault offences.
He was arrested on June 14 for these latest charges and remains in custody pending court proceedings.
