(CHATHAM, ON) – Over the weekend, the OPP in Chatham-Kent received 36 calls for service within the municipality. There were calls for various issues, including traffic complaints, traffic enforcement, traffic hazards, RIDE, impaired driving, and collisions.
On January 27, OPP officers responded to a report of a collision on Highway 401, near Dillon Road. The driver of a westbound vehicle had struck a ladder which was lying on the highway. There were no injuries, but the vehicle sustained minor damage.
On January 29, officers were conducting radar enforcement on St Clair Street, near Sugar Maple, when they saw a vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit of 50kph.
They conducted a vehicle stop and, upon further investigation, the driver, Kourtney Moffatt, 38, of Wallaceburg, was charged with driving with more than 80mg of alcohol, speeding, failing to surrender her licence.
Moffatt is required to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 3, to answer to the charges.
