Boil Water Advisory Issued For South Kent

(RIDGETOWN, ON) – Residents and businesses serviced by the South Drinking Water System in Chatham-Kent are now under a boil water advisory.

According to a press release, the CK Medical Officer of Health, Dr David Colby, is advising consumers to bring the water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes. The advisory includes such things as drinking, making infant formula and juice, brushing teeth, washing foods, and making ice.

The reason for the boil water advisory is due to a loss of pressure in the drinking water system, and will be in place until the Health Unit receives good results from two consecutive sets of samples taken a minimum of 24 hours apart.

Pre-recorded updates can be obtained by calling 519-436-3249.
