(AMHERSTBURG, ON) – The Canadian Coast Guard has announced its seasonally operated lifeboat station in Amherstburg will re-open on April 7. According to CCG, despite recent milder temperatures, waters in the area remain cold at this time of year and take much longer to warm up compared to the air.

Boaters looking for information on how to properly prepare their boats are advised to read Transport Canada’s Safe Boating Guide. It offers information for the preparations needed for the recreational boating season.

The guide can be found online.

Emergencies on the water can be reported 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, toll-free (within Canada) at 1-800-267-7270, or via marine VHF radio on channel 16.
