(KINGSVILLE, ON) – Submissions are now being accepted for the 2nd annual Canada South Song Writing Contest, presented by Sun Parlour Folk Music Society. Five finalists will be selected to perform in the contest at the Kingsville Folk Music Festival on August 12.
One overall winner will receive a $250 cash prize, a prize package from D’Addario Canada, an importer and distributor of musical accessories and instruments, and the opportunity to perform their winning song on the Main Stage at the Festival this year.
The 2016 winner, Karen Morand from Windsor, has been able to utilize this success when introducing herself to new venues and festivals.
“To say you are the winner of a song writing contest gives you further credentials in a world full of many talented writers,” said Morand.
“There are some really talented songwriters in our region and beyond,” co-producer John Law said. “This contest gives these writers the opportunity to showcase their craft, be judged by their peers, and an opportunity to perform at the festival.”
The 4th Annual Kingsville Folk Music Festival will celebrate family this year with incredible family entertainment, kids activities, and workshops. The Festival features over 30 world-class and up and coming folk, world, bluegrass, roots, and Americana artists on four daytime stages and in the evening on the main stage, with Pelee Island Wine, Lonsbery micro-brew, artisan vendors, and diverse regional food vendors.
The Kingsville Folk Festival runs from August to 13 at Lakeside Park. Tickets are available by calling 1-800-838-3006 or online.
