(TORONTO, ON) – The Union Pearson Express (UP Express) service launched June 6, running between Union Station and Toronto Pearson International Airport in just 25 minutes. Trains are departing every 15 minutes, 19½ hours a day.
UP Express connects Canada’s two busiest transportation hubs and is forecast to carry 2.35 million passengers a year by 2018. Toronto Pearson and Union Station are expected to serve 190 million travellers a year by 2031 — almost twice the current annual traffic.
UP Express is PRESTO enabled, providing customers with the option to use their PRESTO card to travel for a discounted adult, one-way fare of $19, from Union Station to Toronto Pearson International Airport. This allows PRESTO customers to tap on and off and seamlessly connect to UP Express without having to purchase a separate ticket.
UP Express is one of $16 billion worth of transit expansion and improvement projects already underway to modernize transit infrastructure in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
With the launch of UP Express, Toronto joins the ranks of global cities with a seamless airport-to-downtown connection, enhancing the region’s competitive advantage, managing congestion, and promoting tourism.
