Tomorrow Is Bike To Work Day

By Ian Shalapata

(WINDSOR, ON) – The City of Windsor has proclaimed May 29 as Bike To Work Day. The proclamation cites bicycling as a “healthy and sustainable method of transportation,” in addition to being “a practical and affordable way of commuting to work and engaging in other daily activities such as going to school or shopping.”

Join in on the event and travel Windsor’s bike lanes, trails, and signed routes to get to work, school, or shopping.

An organized mass transit is planned for May 29 and will be meeting at the Malden Park visitor centre at 7:15 am. Bikers will snake they way through Sandwich Towne to the Riverfront Trail, destined for the CBC studios at Crawford Avenue.

Once there, a complementary continental breakfast will be offered and there will be a give-away of bicycle safety devices. As well, the 2015 Commuter of the Year winner will be announced.

If you plan to bike to work on your own, remember to keep safety in mind, especially when travelling unsafe routes that haven’t been addressed yet by the City.
