Police Officer Injured In Assault

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – The Chatham-Kent Police arrested a male youth in connection with assaulting a police officer, early Saturday morning.

At approximately 2:30 am, the officer stopped a vehicle, on Grand Avenue East in Chatham, and at that time a passenger in the vehicle exited and confronted the officer. The youth assaulted the officer and, after a struggle, he was taken into custody.

The Chatham youth was arrested and charged with Assaulting a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest, in accordance with the Criminal Code and Youth Justice Act, and was held pending bail.

The officer sustained minor injuries during the assault.
