Literary Event Fast Approaching

By Kaysandra Curtis

(WINDSOR, ON) – Pediatric READ is in its 11th year of hosting an annual event where local, national, and international authors are invited to speak to elementary school students. Authors talk about how they get their ideas for writing and the creative process that occurs to produce a book.

Approximately 1,000 students attend each year.

Pediatric READ has always recognized the importance of improving literacy across the community and has supported this initiative for several years by hosting a Young Authors and Story Writing Contest in February to support Black History Month.

This year award-winning authors like Noni Carter, author of Good Fortune, Floyd Cooper, author and illustrator of several award winning children’s books, and local author Linda Flay, author of Abimbaboomba will be featured.

The theme of this year’s event is Literacy Makes the World Go Round and is sponsored by TD Bank May Court Club of Windsor, Azar Homes, and Curry Repro Graphics. It will take place February 26 at the Ciociaro Club at 3745 North Talbot Road in Oldcastle, from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.
