(RICHMOND HILL, ON) – The market continues to inch upwards as new light vehicle sales in Canada breached another all-time monthly sales record in June. Despite the slight 1.2% sales growth over the previous year, the 177,857 new vehicles purchased by Canadians in the previous month represents the best June on record.

The biggest winners of the month, with above 25 per cent year-over-year growth, were Land Rover (+28.2 per cent), Acura (+27.6 per cent), Porsche (+25.9 per cent), and Lexus (25.8 per cent), as the on-going gains being enjoyed by luxury manufacturers in the Canadian market turned into a veritable feast in June.

From the full line manufacturers, GM (+15.3 per cent), Nissan (+10.1 per cent), and Toyota (+9.1 per cent) all enjoyed a strong month.

There was no discernable pattern in the brands that witnessed the largest year-over-year declines with Smart (-68.2 per cent), Hyundai (-21.6 per cent), Jaguar (-14.7 per cent), Ford (-13.2 per cent), and Kia (-10.3 per cent) showing double digit decreases.

MINI leads the year-to-date growth figures with a 46.2 per cent jump followed by Porsche (+32.1 per cent), Lexus (+22.2 per cent), and Volkswagen (+20.8 per cent).
