Landlord Charged After Dispute

By Rich Kwon

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – In the evening of July 9, police were called to a residence on Orchard Heights, in Chatham, for a landlord and tenant issue.

Officers learned that the two women were cleaning a unit, as agreed upon earlier, when they eventually began arguing over the terms of the agreement. The former tenant left the unit to sit in a vehicle outside and the landlord later approached the vehicle and threw a set of window blinds, striking  the woman in the face and resulting in minor injury.

The landlord, a 39 year-old Chatham woman, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Weapon. She was processed and later released with a future court date.
