Lakeshore Man Flees Police

(LAKESHORE, ON) – The OPP were conducting a RIDE program in front of the Lakeshore Detachment, on Notre Dame Street in Belle River, when a vehicle was seen to turn off onto a side street, in order to avoid the program.

An officer followed the vehicle as it sped away through several residential streets before coming to a stop in the 1600 block of Elmwood Avenue. The the driver then fled on foot and the officer engaged in a pursuit, arresting the driver a short distance away.

Cody Trepanier, 22, of Lakeshore, was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight While Being Pursued by Peace Officer, and Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest.

Trepanier will appear in a Windsor court on August 20 to answer to the charges.
