(WINDSOR, ON) – Vanguard, an Arts Council of Windsor and Region-driven initiative, is poised to embark on its first ever Mess Fest starting this Sunday. The week-long event is a celebration of Windsor’s arts and culture scene featuring daily artist-led activities and workshops around Windsor.

Mess Fest will kick off with a screen printing workshop Sunday at Jackson Park between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Other events include urban gardening, a film screening, a silent disco, an open mic night, and the resurrection of the zine movement.

Despite the seemingly divergent activities planned, Vanguard and ACWR member Jordan Worsell-Collins described a plan to attract a large segment of the populace.

“The underlying theme is bringing people together,” she explained. “We’re trying to get people to try things that they haven’t done before, trying to get them out of their comfort zone.”

The Fest finale will take place on August 8 at the ACWR offices at 1942 Wyandotte Street East from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
