Biking And Sketching Olde Walkerville

By Ian Shalapata

(WINDSOR, ON) – Windsor artist Owen Swain will be leading Tour de Sketch this Saturday from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm in Olde Walkerville. Tour de Sketch is a slow bike ride and sketching opportunity hosted by Swain and the Arts Council of Windsor and Region.

The ride will begin at 553 Lincoln Road and riders will leisurely proceed to Great Western Park on the riverfront. After a 20-minute sketching layover, the group will bike to City Hall Square before finishing up on Devonshire Road at Taloola Cafe.

Swain believes there is no such thing as a “mere” drawing or sketch if created mindfully with the intention of discovering the otherness and uniqueness of the subject. Tour goers will have the opportunity to share and discuss their sketches at the end of the day’s activities.

  1. When they sketch I hope they don’t miss sketching how poorly the condition of our roads are in this city. Maybe then our ineffective mayor and city council will wake up and do something for a change that will benefit everyone not just the few, which I am referring to the Aquatic Centre.
