(WINDSOR, ON) – This May, Windsor-Essex will take part in the largest youth-led celebration of creative expression this country has ever seen. National Youth Arts Week will take place from May 1 to 7, and will showcase simultaneous youth-led, community-based events across Canada.
Events in our community will coincide with National Youth Arts Week events taking place across the country. All events will be created, organized, and executed by youth aged 13 to 30. Events and projects will be celebrated in a broad range of disciplines, from the traditional (like dancing, theatre and painting) to the inventive (like cooking, gardening and beatboxing).
The week-long celebrations will provide opportunities for young people to express and exchange ideas, celebrate talents, get excited about the arts, and get engaged with their communities.
The week is being organized by the Arts Network for Children and Youth, a national arts service organization, and is being supported locally by the Arts Council Windsor & Region, the City of Windsor, Broken City Lab, Ford City Neighbourhood Renewal, and the Canadian Heritage.
