Highway 21 Closed In Grand Bend

By Chrystal Jones

(GRAND BEND, ON) – The Lambton County OPP, and other emergency services, responded to the Grand Bend area where trees and power lines were down following a severe thunderstorm.

The storm passed through just after 7:00 pm Sunday evening and, as a result, Highway 21 was closed between Greenway Road and Main Street however, no injuries were reported.

Emergency crews are still working to restore power and clear debris. All of the main roads are open and most of the side streets are passable.

Beach O’Pines appears to be the area most affected by the storm and some streets in that area are not yet open.

OPP officers continue to patrol the area and to direct traffic as required while the clean-up continues. Motorists are asked to exercise caution when travelling through the area as traffic slow-downs and intermittent closures may be encountered while the clean-up process progresses.

The Grand Bend Legion is open for regular business hours today and is available for anyone who is in need of shelter.
